Enjoy,

"...Many people opted for the Nexus 5X knowing about its flaws, but purchased a Device Protection plan for $5/month to cover themselves if the phone did fail. Unfortunately, the failures were extremely common, but because Project Fi was running out of refurbished 5X replacement devices, owners were instead being offered just $100 in Google Store credit or $53 in the form of a check. For a phone that originally retailed for $350, that was unacceptable. It may have taken a couple of weeks, but Google is finally doing the right thing. Hopefully, not too many people accepted either of those original forms of "compensation."

I've been thinking about switching to Fi. So if I grabbed a cheap bootloop 5X off of eBay and signed up for Fi, it would be pretty easy to swap for the replacement? Edit: I think I'd have to buy direct from Google.

sending in my phone this weekend. Called LG and they sent shipping label. They said they can fix it. Will see.

Out of warranty but they said no cost as long as no physical damage or liquid damage.

No project FI though. Cool PSA though

My Nexus 5X just died tonight. How did you contact LG? Did you go through Google? I'm bummed out that mine finally succumbed to one of the several dreaded defects.

I just called support. Lady from LG just asked for my IMEI. Said as long as no liquid or physical damage they fix it free. They sent prepaid shipping label via email.

Any chance someone could send me a copy of their 5x purchase receipt? Mine just died a week ago. Bought it off craigslist last spring. Thanks.

Come on, fraud? That's why L.L. Bean had to change their amazing return policy and why other retailers are doing the same. Be better.
