They have a few locations in the SF Bay Area, and are well known. Not sure how 'cult' it is, but whatever works for marketing, I guess.

The restaurant literally has the most reviews on yelp of any SF restaurant. Cult.

Ok, but 'cult' following usually means a small, but absolutely fanatical following. The fact that it is SO popular means it's not really a 'cult' because there are many 'casuals' that know and love it.

The fact that it's not THAT good (good, but not that good) but still gets all of the attention/fanfair and only has two locations, cult.
As per my Burmese wife, it's the best Burmese restaurant in the United States. And it is well known among the Burmese community all over the US, so yeah, kind of cult

I remember being able to walk in and get a table with no wait. I hear now it is like 2-3H sometimes.

I think the food is good, but a little on the oily side for me. Not sure if they oily is authentic. Some of their stuff is addictive, tho

Yeah, Burmese foods are oily specially their curry dishes. They are much more oily if you try those dishes in Burma. Peace

It doesn't take much for big stupid YouTubers to get their clueless young subscribers is to leave bad Yelp reviews on restaurants who don't cater to their selfish needs or give them free food or free hotel rooms.
