Joby Action Clamp & Locking Arm For Action Cameras and Oculus Rift Sensors (Standard camera mount) Add-on Item $5

I was looking for clamps that I needed for my Oculus Rift sensors and came across these. They are an add-on item so you'll need to make an order of $25 minimum to have them shipped and reviews state they are pretty crappy when attached to a moving object. Even their promo video hows them setup as in a static position, but that's perfectly okay if you need them just to stay where they are at.

Hopefully these help out any other Rift owners.

Not bad. A few dollars cheaper than eBay prices.

All those in ebay have like 1 quantity available as well as 8 bucks means its more than 50% higher cost.

Based on the reviews the build quality is an issue.

What I gathered from reviews is people over tightened these trying to use them while in motion. While I can understand that frustration... im unsure why they would think a plastic clamp would be sufficient for that application. Which is why I said these are good as stationary mounts in the posting. you wont have to tighten them as much.

So.... got these and set them up. Everything is exactly as I presumed. You can easily make them tight enough without over stressing the plastic pieces to hold the Oculus Rift sensors in place.

Two issues though. The first issue is on the packaging it in fact shows these used as mounts on moving vehicles and thats just pathetic and clearly these fail at what they are advertised for. Again though, as stationary, static mounts... perfectly fine.

The second real issue is more a problem with the Rift sensors design. The threaded hole is offset deeper than the opening. Meaning when you try to screw the camera mount in, it has a few millimeters of travel before it will actually catch onto the threading. Unfortunately, the Joby screws are very shallow and will not reach the Rift sensors threads. I luckily have a bunch of various extra camera mounts that can be the middle attachment, but thats something you wont want to deal with if you just bought these to use by themselves.

Are what you need, but they double the cost.

I wont blame Joby completely, but its a shame no matter what that they aren't directly compatible with the Rift sensors.

unless you just HAVE to have one of these, i would put it on the ebay watch list and one day wait for a price drop to $1 or add it as filler during the next ebay promo since it's only a few bucks more.
