The Lensbaby Velvet 85 art lens is available for $449.95 after applying the coupon code LB50 ($50 off) in your cart. Shipping is free (on orders over $30), and Lensbaby does not collect sales tax.

The email that I received indicates:
We have a secret that we're only sharing with our newsletter subscribers. Velvet 85 is available at a discount for the very first time, from January 22nd to January 29th! You won't see this special announced on our website, social media feeds, or anywhere else, This code in only being shared with you, our newsletter subscribers. Enter "LB50" at checkout to save $50 on Velvet 85!
The Velvet 85 is available for DSLRs/mirrorless cameras with the following mounts: Canon EF; Nikon F; Sony E; Sony Alpha A; Fuji X; Micro 4/3; Pentax K; and Samsung NX.

I cannot speak to whether this lens has ever been offered anywhere at a discount as the email claims, but a quick search indicates that it selling at the MSRP of $499.95 or higher everywhere currently.

Wow this looks like a super narrow focus (literally and figuratively) lens, and you better like the glow effect around highlights. A lot of the photos just look like soft focus. The strongest example of what it does is the portrait of the blonde girl with the flowers in her hair on the linked product page, a tiny plane of focus with her eyes is sharp, but the backlit hair highlights almost seem like neon tubes. If you're really into that sort of effect then I guess it saves you the trouble of adding it in post processing all the time, but for me personally I think I'd rather take the photos straight for more flexibility and do the effects in post. Some of the users indicate it's super sharp stopped down but then you've constrained yourself to brighter situations.

It's actually a fantastic lens if you are comfortable with manual focus/controls. I have some images on my instagram @josephdtran where I shot with this exact lens with a Canon 5d series camera. Once you stop down above f/2.8 it becomes very sharp and has great rendering. Also a great lens for videography work.

Just here to say I'm surprised to see a lens manufacturer whose name I had never heard of. Obviously I'm no pro. The reviews are not far and wide either. Is this a new company?

They've been around for about 15 years with a line of creative effects lenses that has expanded over the years. You can produce some interesting/great images with them, but like @tr1kstanc3 mentioned, you have to be comfortable with manual focus/controls.
