I've got a couple of these and they're very nice. Five Below carries them and I think I paid $3.99.

I bought these last week and they are very good quality. I love the adjustability and they will work for virtually every type of athlete.

Adjustable is good, but I'm afraid the exposed spring may kids getting their hair caught in it.

Probably not necessary for just your average gym go-er. Hand/grip strength training has multiple different facets usually being condensed down into 3 groups: open static grip, closed static grip, and crushing grip. This would train primarily the crushing grip. This is good if you regularly need to do this motion in your work/rehab/hobby/sport. However if you're just trying to be able to deadlift more, etc static holds with heavy weights would be cheaper (free if you've already got your gym membership) and more likely to get the benefit that you want. And this may be good for someone who is relatively weaker to begin with (hey, don't be offended... I said relatively, everyone starts somewhere) but the captain of crush brand are much more suited if you want to REALLY develop amazing crushing grip. non-referral link here: https://www.amazon.com/Captains-o...B01MTKKSU0 (I have no financial involvement with any brands)

It probably wouldn't hurt anything as long as you start low amounts of reps and sets and gradually build up and at some point probably cap your sets and reps and throughout the whole aforementioned process allow for adequate recovery and rest so that you don't end up with overuse injuries.

For someone who isn't a workout enthusiasts, what general benefits would this offer? I am a poker dealer, so having strong/healthier hands and wrist would likely be a benefit to me, but I don't know if something like this would actually help in a manner that would actually benefit myself. Would using something like this have general benefits for the average person who doesn't actually work out a lot?

I'm sure others will disagree but in my experience, there is no substitute to practicing exactly what you're trying to accomplish. I play both piano and guitar and I developed my hand strength by playing guitar and piano, not by squeezing a hand grip for half the day.

If you're prone to Golfers and Tennis elbow like I am these things do a pretty good job getting blood into those low flow areas to help with healing. I keep one of these in each of my vehicles.
