I was holding out for this, but was really hoping they would hit the >$700 price point. I mean, for the price and features the Mavic Air seems like a decent deal, but it's entering high-end territory where you could spend just a little more and get something truly prosumer level. I get that portability is the big selling point with this, but $799 is a pretty penny without extra batteries.

Might turn my attention back to finding a Spark Fly More deal, now. Really wish someone other than MicroCenter would hit $399 for that.

Waiting for the Air to go live on Amazon since I have some gift card credits there. Portability is big and since it's so small, it's less intimidating therefore less likely to deal with security or police (I've had my fair share with the Phantom 3).

The specs and new features beat out the Mavic Pro, except for distance.

noop, the battery life is far shorter than mavic pro.
only the camera might look better than mavic pro

Maybe if we post about it enough the lurking corporate spies will take the hint. I'd pull out my credit card in a heartbeat, but there's no MicroCenter within 1000 miles of here.

ATTENTION NEWEGG, BHPHOTO, AMAZON, BEST BUY, FRY'S, COSTCO, OR WHOEVER IS LISTENING: $399 for a Spark Fly More bundle, please! Or $499 for a Fly More bundle and some extra crap thrown in on the side to make me feel better about overpaying. I am desperate to throw my money at you, but the SDer in me just can't bear to pay $599 knowing that some people got it for $399.

Wow, what a disappointment. I was expecting a reasonable price, but I could just buy a Mavic Pro for this much. And, yes, I know there's a difference in the camera, but I'd be getting a P4P if that was my concern. The range and the larger size is more of a draw for me.

Oh well, maybe I'll get one when you can get a refurbished one for $500. On the plus side, the market is about to get saturated with used Mavic Pros, for those that want to smaller form factor and 4K with higher rate.

And, before you criticize me, check out this video. It's an amazing device, trumping the Spark in portability, but it's not what I want. I want that compromise between size, stability, battery life, speed, and picture quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdUryRvNmgs

The Air is TINY. The Mavic looks like a monster compared to it, and the Mavic really is not that big. The Spark is larger than the Air in its folded form, that's how small it is. Also, the range difference is there. Probably not an issue for most, but not everyone must abide by FAA regulations.

That's my thought too. Thinking of picking up the spark fly more at $400. But with all these new drones, holding out for a mavic around $600 seem better option.

if you're willing to throw $600 at a drone what's the point of not spending $800 ?

Because the Mavic Air isn't worth $800
