The price on this dropped like a rock after the huge security flaws (Meltdown, Spectre) in Intel's processors became known.

Is it worth it to upgrade my 7700k? I just build 6 months ago bought the chip for $270 but i feel like 8700k would perform better in adobe premier. Still dont know if it worth it or not or wait a little longer.

It should be there soon. The security flaws, performance handicaps from the fixes, and major competition from AMD, has shaved $100 off the price of the 8700k already.

Agreed. Eagerly awaiting. These multiple posts from the same ebay seller are pointless.

Didn't I hear that a software fix can only go so far in fixing their issues? I thought it was the cpu's phyical design that was the root of the problem? I wanted to build a new rig this year too so I'm hoping these continue to drop in price.

Lmao. Really trying there aren't you.

When the chips we're first released there was a shortage and retailers were selling them above msrp.

Funny how AMD chips we're on sale day 1 but guys are trying to clown Intel for selling at only msrp months later. You guys crack me up

If they are making money from the system, having 2 more cores could easily make sense.

laugh out loud msrp on this chip was about 359 . Competition from amd is nil. none of their chips come close , AMD is competing with kaby lake, maybe ryzen 2 will. It dropped because its not longer in limited supply but this chip will not be in the mid to high 200s anytime soon unless Ryzen 2 proves out to be a killer chip.
yeah its a "hot deal" alright compared to those dummies who dropped 400+ back when it was in limited supply.

LOL, the Intel shills are out in force. You don't need to take my word for it, Meltdown and Spectre are known issues reported widely, as are the fixes and slowdowns associated with them.

"Supply shortages" is another way of saying hot sales for Intel processors from late 2017 dropped like a rock after the world was notified about Meltdown and Spectre.

I'll wait until Intel fixes the hardware flaws in their CPUs before I bother spending money on one.

LOL 90% of the people do not need an i7-8700k anyway.

For gaming, get the i5-8400 for less than $200

For content creation or multitasking get the Ryzen 7 1700 for ~$250

For best bang for your buck (both gaming and multitasking) get the Ryzen 5 1600 ~$150

intel shills? its called being informed. Maybe you were born in January because for the better part of Q4 last year the availability of the 8700k was about zero. and nobody questions those threats. They are real but you probably just read about them because otherwise you would have known that the impact on performance is minimal to none.
enjoy your bubble
