You can log into your Amazon account and pay $15 to remove the ads from this device. Several people have been able to call Amazon support and the the ads removed for free (once per account).

I did a search for the model # from the Fry's website. It does appear to be the special offers model.

I use this tablet for basic stuff like reading newspapers and books and streaming video content. I have Google Play downloaded but it is really to slow for most apps

I was able to get google services and use a hijack launcher. its effectively a normal android tablet now. i got the 32GB for a little cheaper than this when it was used like new.

im satisifed with it, i think itll work fine to control apps and stuff arudn the house, but you will have to "hack" into it a little bit. its straight forward, but you have to have some working knowledge of APKs and file explorers etc.
