This is not a "deal" or something new...Happens almost everyday if you buy early enough when the schedules are released.

Generally 6 months in advance (unless it's a new route). Pricing goes up as more people buy for a specific date. Most if not all routes start at $1, however, there only may be 1 or 2 seats available for that price, for a given time slot.

You are correct, the 18 foot tall "$1" painted on the back of their buses is certainly a clue....

They're fine for what they do. Better, and usually cheaper, than Greyhound, too. And FAR cheaper than an uber or plane ticket Wink

Is the $2.50 booking fee new? Don't remember there being one when I last rode several years ago.

Why? What about upgrading to the reserved seats would that make it better or is there something generally horrible about this?

I travel IND-CHI once or twice a year for the last 7-8 years on Megabus. I almost always get them for $1 each way but a few times I dont get to the website on time and have to settle for $5 each way. I have not had a single issue except once or twice the bus has been 20min late or so. As long as your expectations are reasonable its a great value for many cases.

They're probably referring to... "Between 2013 and 2015, there were at least 22 crashes in the US involving Megabus coaches"

Its always $1 when they put the next set of dates out, until the $1 seats sell out. The $1 never went anywhere. They just sell out fast for alot of journeys. Although Ive still seen some $1 tickets out there for weeks after the new schedule comes out if the cities are not very popular destinations.
