This is a really great price for this phone (Brand New in the Box but it says New/Other because box is opened so that they can Sim Unlock it (Carrier unlocked for GSM Tmobile or AT&T).

Phone is updated to Nougat (Doubtful that there will be an Oreo update)

The H830 (T-Mobile Variant) is able to be rooted by following instructions on XDA. That makes this a good deal and also there is an official Lineage OS for this phone (after you have rooted it).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-G5-H8...2749.l2649

Update: Members have advised that this phone may have the hacked-carrier-unlock-firmware-exploit named H83020i_un

Please read this thread before purchasing:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/...n-t3636844

TL;DR? Phone arrives Sim-unlocked but If you run OTA update on the phone you will lose carrier unlock which means it will only work on T-Mobile/T-mobile MVNOS and wont work on AT&T. I have corrected the original description to reflect this new information.

If you plan to root this phone, DO NOT install the latest system update from T-Mobile or LG. Users report it will prevent root access. You need to install the "20A" update from November 2016. Download the KDZ update file from link below and manually flash using LG UP or LG Bridge (both free software; Google to download). Once the 20A update is installed, you can root and install custom recovery. Then you can flash the latest 20N update (Dec 2017) using TWRP, if you don't want a custom ROM. If you flash the latest 20N update directly from T-Mobile or LG, you won't be able to downgrade to 20A. Thus no longer possible to root.

Seller is a FRAUD. These are NOT unlocked phones.

Thanks for this. Even though it is a different seller, I still want to quote the important part on your link:

"...UPDATE: 2017/10/10 1:25PM PDT
As a few of you have pointed out in the comments section, these G5s are unlocked because the seller, BuySPRY, is flashing different firmware (H83020i_un) onto them. So when you attempt to update your device or flash back to T-Mobile firmware, you'll lose the unlock. We'll make sure that this isn't the case for unlocked devices in the future, and we won't post about any more devices sold by BuySPRY."

The disturbing part is when I look at it, the description clearly states on the OP's deal:

"...NOTE1: Phone's seal was opened and resealed for unlocking purposes
NOTE2: Android pay might not work. Sim card not included..."

I miss this phone. Would still be using it if I didn't badly damage it. Shouldn't the G7 be coming out soon?

Thank you for pointing that out and I will definitely look into it and verify with the vendor. Phone does have 30 day warranty so I will certainly run updates as soon as I receive it and I will discover quickly if such a trick has been played.

Although in my case I am planning to use it for AT&T but wanted the Tmobile variant because its the only one that has an unlocked bootloader to allow root.

I ordered one of these phones for myself and after that I posted the deal here on SLickDeals but since I just placed order this morning I dont have phone in my hands quite yet.

I will definitely get to the bottom of it. Ebay says 61 units have been sold. Dont see any negative feedbacks yet about it.

Bought this last time found out H830 model is missing LTE band 17 which AT&T and crickets uses , so my mms text along with some sites would not work .

Bought a few days ago rs988 for $190 without shady unlock procedure. And as far as I'm concerned there has been no h830 with dual sim. This listing looks sketchy to me.

Thanks OP!!!

It's great deal, at least for me considering its T-mobile phone.
First thing I will do it flash it back to T-mobile stock ROM to get OTA updates and then will request an unlock code from T-mobile after 40 days, if you are T-mobile customer there is no reason to worry about, for others beware you will lose the unlock once you flash it to another ROM and flashing is very easy with LG UP tool..

And for others who care about the warranty check the IMEI for production date, LG phones come with 15 months warranty and it can be verified with their support!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!
