For those with a MicroCenter nearby, they just dropped the price to $230. No mouse pad though! ;-)

Don't you mean the i5 is finally coming down to where it should have been in the first place?

Shame on Intel for releasing 2 chips in the same year!!

7th Gen i5 7600k should be around $179
This should be around $200

$230-$250 is too much.

I've been thinking about building a gaming rig. How significant is the jump from this i5 to same generation i7? I feel like the video card is more of the limiting factor for graphics processing (gaming).

I have been wanting to upgrade my gaming rig but holding off for two main reasons
1. Graphic cards are ridic right now due to crypto mining. Easily 2x MSRP.
2. DDR 4 ram prices are also super inflated

Video cards are more than 2x inflated. 1070's should be about $300, and they're like $900 right now. It's madness.

I said "easily 2x MSRP", meaning at least twice as much. MSRP is $379 so essentially we're saying the same thing
