This is not the knife for you if you had to ask. That's ok though, there's other deals to move along to.

I usually learn a lot from the knowledgeable people in this forum. But this is one of those rare uninformed opinions.

Damascus steel is not a style or fashion. It is a technique that has evolved more than 1000 years. It is an ingenious way to make a knife as hard as possible without being brittle. In the last century, it has also become a way to rust-proof high carbon steel core.

Victorinox knives are nice out of box, but they don't hold an edge long because they use soft steel. Since Fibrox line is stamped, they are also not very robust. The blades are easy to flex and bend.

Now, a question for the knowledgeable people: WTH is FC61 steel? I know it means fine carbide steel with HRC 61. But what is its composition?

Looks to be a standard sale price for these knives. In searching for a review I stumbled on a page from 2016 stating the same price from the same vendor.

I received this Knife for Christmas and I LOVE IT! The knife is super sharp, looks great and handle is wonderful. If your looking to get into a Damascus set they are really nice and at a great price point. Looking for a good in drawer organizer for the knife and looking to add a smaller prep knife to match.

I do have a full set of CutCo knives, they are super durable but heavy. The first thing you will notice about this knife is how light it is and the second thing is how incredibly sharp it is.

I own an original version of this knife and it is fantastic. I also have a shun premier knife from a prior slickdeal and I prefer the miyabi. The best part, in addition to being razor sharp, is that the spine of the knife is chamfered and if you grip it the way that a chef's knife is supposed to be gripped, it is way more comfortable. The Shun is razor sharp but causes more discomfort and fatigue.

I bought this knife the last time it went on sale, great veggie/ fruit knife with the 9-12 degree blade angle. Cuts super thin onion slices.

I got into Japanese knives due to my brother in law who has 15+ shun and 2 Miyabi. He said he likes Shun more. Also Shun has lifetime warranty/sharpening service while Miyabi doesn't. Miyabi is definitely pretty though.
