Anyone have any thoughts about this product versus Apple's device?

Sure....Sonos is an open platform. The One works with Alexa, Google Assitant (soon), and Siri/Airplay 2 (soon) via apple devices. But even more important Sonos is a system. Want to add a bigger/smaller smart/non-smart speaker to you house? Great, a new Sonos device will incorporate into your already set up system. Home theater to smart speakers.

I imagine a single Sonos one sounds slighty behind the more expensive Homepod, but a pair in stereo mode should offer the better sound stage. Its a hard deal/combo to beat. I pre-ordered a Homepod, which is still on preorder, and then went and got a pair of these. After setting them up, I canceled my homepod.

Thanks for the info. Seems most users are thumbing down the post.

Any idea why? Is it price related - think it'll go down further?

No idea why. It is a good deal. I highly doubt the price drops lower than this for a good long while.

And you cannot buy one for half price ($175), correct?

Guess I'll give it a try Smilie

EDIT: One for $199, 2 for $349 -- sitting on the fence now, buy 1 or 2

How long is the 2 for $349 sale good for?

Any one know if Alexa can recognize voices from different people and act accordingly? For example, setting or reviewing calendar events? Or does it connect to only a single account?

The thumbs down are stupid.
Perhaps they are confusing the One that sells for $199 each with the Play:1 that's seems for $149 each. I thought it was a marketing blunder fir Sonos to name their new speaker the One for this very reason; casual buyers confusing the two very different models. The One sounds much better than the Play:1, and way better than the Bose SoundTouch 10 (though the Soundouch alllows for connectivity via Bluetooth and direct line wire input which the One does not and for some applications that is very desirable).
I like the Sonus line of products for their sound, appearance, and the simplicity of their software. The Apple HomePod should sound better given that it costs over twice the price on a Sonus One. And like someone else mentioned, two speakers will give a room far more even and fuller sound than a single speaker and given that a single Apple HomePod costs the same as a pair of Sonus Ones given this sale price I suspect the pair of Ones would be the better sounding choice. The HomePod does allow for Bluetooth connectivity if that is important to you.

Well, guilty right here. I thought they were the same until I read your post. Marketing blunder indeed.
