Samsung's having some SSD's on sale. This can also be stacked with student discount from Uniday if you:
1) register at Unidays [myunidays.com]
2) verify your edu email address
3) search for samsung on Unidays website, click through (no coupon required)
4) search for 850 PRO on samsung website, the price should be even lower with Unidays discount

Some good deals:
850 PRO 2.5 SATAIII [samsung.com]: 256GB-$100, 512GB-$150, 1TB-$300
960 PRO NVMe M.2 [samsung.com]: 512GB-$250. 1TB-$470
860 EVO SATA M.2 [samsung.com]: 256GB-$88, 500GB-$157, 1TB-$305
Portable SSD T5 [samsung.com] : 250GB-$80, 500GB-$150, 1TB-$280

These are the lowest prices I've seen on those SSD's. I own the 960 PRO M.2 and would definitely recommend it at this price.

10% DD worked for me last time.
Looks like it's at 5% today, though.

those are pretty good prices. but not low enough for me to "upgrade" from my 960 evos.

i just keep an eye out on amazon warehouse deals. i got both my 500gb 960 evo's for under $200 each.

raided them. not sure how much of an improvement i can see from a 960 pro raid and 960 evo raid.

i also raided (2) 500gb 850 evos for the heck of it. transferring a file from one raid to another is ridiculous. almost scary.

+16.7% write
+8.6% read
+2.4% GB
+66.7% warranty
+100% TBW

for 25% more cost.

Not a *great* deal to upgrade from 960 evos, but certainly a great upgrade coming from anything else at this price.

850pro sata 2tb is 650. That's a deal as well on the pro.

4tb evo is 1300.

Been watching for a 2tb for a while.

If you've never purchased from Samsung directly before, I would advise you to consider holding off or trying to price match elsewhere. Samsung has one of the worst customer service teams I've ever dealt with. Not Comcast bad, but not too far off.

YES!!! looks for ones that say "like new". sometimes its just a damaged box.

i cant remember the first one i bought, but the 2nd one i bought about a month ago had 0 writes. i checked with samsung magician, which tells you how many terabytes were written, it didnt have any usage!!!

yeah, i know the tech specs, but real world, probably like 0.1% difference. though, if you are using it in a work (or heavy write) environment. i would say its worth it for the warranty and lifespan.

For peripherals, I'd quote you on that advice. However, for memory products, can't beat the authenticity of having it straight from the manufacturer.

Plus, you're going to have to deal with them anyway for warranty reasons after the first month passes.
