it needs to be lower for sure. $800 is the Most I would ever spend. At this price if you can wait. Might as well wait for the new models from Anthem, etc........
What makes you believe you can buy a Anthem on this price range ? Stolen maybe ! The 520 is $1,400, do you have a buddy that gives you a great discount ?

If you are planning on buying this , you need to buy it today at full price , you will recieve a confirmation email with your order #, your card will not be charge until you pick it up, Sunday when get your promo code go to the store and process out , when you give them the code , poof ! The price drops to $899.00 which is the same price I paid for my 4300H following the same process , best of luck !

incorrect. you do not need to "buy it today". You simply ORDER it today and then when you go to the store to pick it up on SUNDAY you apply the code and it will bring it down to $899. Your credit card is NOT charges until you pick up.

So I got a x4300 from an authorized dealer on Amazon [no CA tax!] in November. Just packaged it up, and sent it back. Blown relay.

I had my dad buy one. Same deal. Sent it back. Network didn't work.

He bought a HEOS 3 speaker. That never worked, had to send it back.

I bought an x3400 from Fry's about 10 days ago when it was $500. One of the letters on the front LCD just blew last night. I'll probably take it back (sadly, it seems to work otherwise).

DOUBLE-YOU TEE EFF!?!?!? I had a Denon 3801 that I bought in 2001 that literally worked strong for 12 years! Now I can't get a unit to work for more than 10 seconds!

I'm tempted to just say screw Denon -- I use airplay, not HEOS -- and look at Yamaha or Pioneer, but I feel like this may be worth trying one last time if I can get one in-store (I live close to a Fry's). I'm also tempted, now that Airplay 2 is fiiiiiiinally coming out, supposedly, to wait until that's been finalized, but I need something for my main system, and I'm tired of playing musical AVRs.

Sigh.

Presumably Fry's doesn't do price-adjustments or anything? Is this basically a matter of going to the store when it opens, pulling a box off the shelf and then buying it?

The last time it was "in store only" -- when I bought the x3400 a few weeks ago -- I was able to purchase it online, apply the code, and pick it up in store. Any ideas for the procedure here?

Thanks. Placed an order. Will pickup Sunday [or maybe tomorrow?] hopefully at the lower price. I'm gonna have like $3000 outstanding across 3 different receivers. Hopefully this last one will actually work!

Yes, reserve it today and apply the Sunday code when you get it Sunday morning. Sometimes the price doesn't change online but it does when you get to the checkout counter at the store.

apparently it is on sale Saturday also so use that days code when you get it Saturday morning. Reserve it today and pick up Saturday.
