I currently have a Denon AVR-S900W, but I just purchased a LG OLED TV. Would it be worth swapping the Denon for this Onkyo? I'm thinking about the HDR pass through and the Dolby Atmos that the Onkyo provides (my Denon does not). So, would it even be an upgrade?

I need a receiver for a 2.1 system for use with a turntable and music streaming via chromecast audio. I hate that there are no good 2.1 receivers with bass management. I do not need or want all the other damn features, but alas I am stuck with AVRs in order to get bass management. This seems like a solid deal.

That's up to you I'm waiting for at least 5.2.4 but I've figured out how to successfully bypass passthrough and used the optical out of the TV that passes DD True and DTS Master, then do direct HDMI to tv for HDR video. Obviously depends how how many sources you need.

edit: doubled check shows only passes DD and DTS

i feel like every receiver thread someone says "accessories 4 less has it for $xxx", then someone always responds "theirs is a refurb"

Does anyone know how to match the receiver watts with the speaker watts. I don't get this- 100 watts per channel 8 ohm when 2 channels are driven. So is it like 40 watts for 5 channels? What if you have two tower speakers and 2 small speakers? Does it give more powers to towers if it's still in 5 channel mode?

What exactly is good bass management. I see subs have the adjustable control but I'm not getting up all the time to mess with that especially if I get two woofers. What management or controls should I be looking for to get ultimates bass control via remote. I'm sure my wife will come and bitch if the base is up so I really need good control. I should put the sub right next to my couch lol

Will this work well for a Sony 900e? It looks great, what's the catch?
