No one should purchase this garbage.

SD promised over a year ago to not allow deals that don't:
1. Have at least a 1,000+ store rating.
2. Have a minimum of 50 reviews, with 80 percent being deemed acceptable by Fakespot.

https://slickdeals.net/amp/article/news/can-you-really-trust-amazon-product-reviews/

Whatever happened to that?

Careful, this guy considers these types of comments trolling ๐Ÿ˜ฏ doesn't like that it makes shilling difficult ๐Ÿ˜‚
But seriously, thank you for pointing this out, can help people giving them more potential insight into the deal and vendor.

Unfortunately Fakespot turned out not to be very consistent Frown So much as we would have liked to continue that part of the rule, we couldn't due to their inconsistencies. So the current rule is just must have 1,000+ rating.

If you have ideas that would help with this, we're very wiling to listen to good ones. We don't like the spam any more than you guys do and probably even less since it takes a lot of time trying to keep as much of it at bay as we can. But we also have to balance that against what's best for users in general. So if you have good ideas, then feel free to let us know and post your suggestions in the SIS forum. And also please feel free to thumb down or mod alert deals that you think are spam so that mods can check them.

SD never got a cut from fakespot Wink We only used them as a guide until we saw how inconsistent they were.

That's great information, thank you for this!
Too bad the Fakespot didn't work out... Curious if you all had the chance to evaluate reviewmeta to consider as an alternative?
I'm not sure what the answer is, but the frustrating thing for many of us has been when we do report stuff, we have received responses saying that unless we have absolute proof of shilling there is nothing you all can do (even if the poster has a history of only posting these type of deals)... This if course leads to the conclusion for many that the reason no action is taken is because it would cut into SDs profits.

You're welcome. And it has nothing to do with profits. If we had proof, we take action. Without proof, it makes it much harder since then we have to build up evidence bit by bit. Would be like if some user reported your post as spam, we check it but can't prove you're spamming. Would you want us to ban you on just one user saying you're a spammer without any proof? Wink

So we rely on user's help to build that evidence or to provide that proof if they have it. So any time you see spam or suspected spam, please mod alert it. Even if we can't prove anything at that moment, every little bit helps build a case.

Right, understood, but that's why I brought up the fact that people I've reported are serial posters of that types of deals. It's difficult for anyone user on this board to generate Rock solid proof (beyond posting history) because we do not have access to the TU that accompany these type of posts (for most, shortly after the posting they receive 6 TU, with zero comments, almost immediately). Without the knowledge of who is giving this immediate TU, it's impossible for us to present you with the next level of forensic proof.
That said, having access to that data, it would seem quite trivial for SD to do a simple scan that would reveal the connection between these parties, this creating an actionable case.
As a software developer with experience in data analysis, i know for certain this could be built in very short order. That's what I would like to see. And, this could be grounds for warnings, that would hopefully then give pause to seasoned SDers who are leveraging their rep and history on SD to promote these types of deals.
Then, you would only have the new accounts shilling, which makes it FAR easier for users to identify, and negates the confusion caused when people see a 10+ year SD veteran with loads of rep points promoting that types of deals.
Just my take on a potential viable option ๐Ÿ˜Š

SD does have some tools in place and we do use them Wink But again, without proof it does take time to build up said evidence. Plus we also do not discuss warnings we may give whoever you do report, so even though it may look like we did nothing, we very likely have done something until we do have enough proof to do more. So please keep mod alerting, even if it seems we do nothing. Believe me, we do check each and every one and they do help to build said cases over time.

Excellent, thank you again for the information. Now, if we only had the ability to flag a post (or comment) or select the reason for why TD a post (or even see the reason why others did) in the Android app, that would a tremendous asset. Hopefully we'll see that soon? ๐Ÿ˜‰

For mobile app stuff, that would be the mobile app devs. Please post that request/suggestion in the mobile app feedback forum in SIS and/or send them that feedback via the app itself. I do know that they at least read the in app feedback regularly and hopefully the forum too.

You can mod alert on mobile web I know but yeah in app MA'ing I think is still on their to do list.
