So how does this work? Is this a proprietary wireless sync protocol? Does the battery work on its own, or do I need to also have the Ion case on my phone?

There aren't many pictures on the case pages, so I'm not sure how the case charges the phone, either. Perhaps it doesn't require a cable because the case itself has a connector port built in. But it would be nice to have more details on the product pages.

Edit: After some brief research (aka google), it is a specialized wireless sync. You need the phone case to work with all the other charging accessories. The phone case has a docking port, similar to battery cases.

Note that the rebate PDF says up to $10 and one rebate per item, so you can get one of each item and have a total rebate amount of more than $10. When going to the actual rebate form at http://patriotmem.4myrebate.com/?oc=PAT-15025 , you can add one of each item, and the final page shows $89 (if you select all items).

Also, as the OP notes, shipping is free. However, you only see the free shipping on the final page before submitting the order. So don't get worried when the shipping option shows $13 or so for basic ground shipping.

coolant is very dangerous to cats (and probably dogs too)... apparently they are also attracted to the scent of it which makes it worse... i think they would need to ingest a much larger dose than what you get here, but just some food for thought

Thanks OP!

I'm new to Fry's. Where to find the receipt/invoice for rebate? Do I print from online account just like Newegg? Or should I try to find the document somewhere else? Thanks for any help!

I've never had a water cooled system but that's what I'd do.. Seems like food coloring would be perfectly fine and dirt cheap.

.. Or would food coloring make distilled water conductive in case of a leak?

you can copy or send in the packing slip (it does say invoice)
or (like Newegg) go to your order history and print (Proof of purchase)

they all work (electro)magnetically, the battery obviously works standalone and charges either via USB or the charging method. each case attaches to the matching stand or pad magnetically as well so it's a bit gimmicky but seems to work ok.

Not in this case, the coolant is propylene glycol (same stuff as lipstick or Prestone white).
so it's non-toxic - you're thinking of ethylene glycol (standard anti-freeze). Same myth was reported in Corsair threads and they use the safer compound as well.

the dye I haven't checked yet.

I also want the power bank so I decided to try the other items as well. I bought 6 items total $39 with free shipping. The rebates are all on the same form so still 1 stamp.

yes and no. I did state a large amount in my initial post

"If cats or dogs ingest large amounts of propylene glycol, poisoning can occur. This is most commonly seen when pets ingest liquid propylene glycol products"
Alternate names: Pet-safe antifreeze, PG
source: http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/...ne-glycol/
