I believe Gen2 was a look upgrade with the plug-in (with nightlight) vs. these.

Honestly for the price difference, I don't think version 2 is worth the premium if you can get version 1 at this price. That being said, I have two versions 2s set up and they are awesome!

Ideally i would need 3 to cover the house; if i get 2 of the two packs, wondering if they can they can be part of the same network...? not sure if there is a difference between the units where ONE has to be the router and the others slaved off the main unit..TIA

I think i answered my own question, just in case anyone else was wondering... the answer is "yes" - you can combine 2 - two packs. The 3 pack is standard price @ the Microsoft store for $249 (free shipping+tax though), so $265 shipped. for another $35, will give the 4th eero and can either ensure I have zero dead zones and use it for another location. Gen 2 would have been ideal to get the dedicated back haul, but the locations I'll be placing them at all have a wired backhaul or for the amount of b/w I'll be pushing, piggy backing the 5Ghz should be fine.

Thx OP!

This should easily cover it. I have two in my house (around 1600 sqft) between three floors and it goes all the way out to the middle of the street. These changed my life. I could never go back to a regular modem and powerful router.

I've heard the orbi and velop are highly recommended and are the two best ones. I don't think you'll notice the difference tbh and at this price this is a no brainer.
