USB 3.1 is gen 1 not 2.

RAM is soldered and not upgradable.

HDD is upgradeable.

A 2nd HDD can be added with 2 parts:

Part numbers,
For cable: 50.GSLN5.006
For HDD bracket: 33.GSLN5.004

Cost is $9 each part plus $4 shipping through Capitol Data, for US parts: 800-999-4409.

Great price. I'm happy with my Dell Inspiron 13 7373 (2-in-1 touch) with similar specs but no discrete graphics for $570 though (expired B.B. deal).

Need a new laptop & this is checking all the boxes - it is a slick deal or just average? Am I missing any red flags?

Dang I didn't see that deal...I like the 7373 a lot. I have 5368 and like everything but the screen.

Pretty slick and backed by Costco, you can't go wrong. By default you get 2 years instead of the standard 1 year warranty. Use your Citi Costco card if you have one and you extend the warranty from 2 years to 4.

Plus you get 1 year of McAfee AV included.

It's a pretty good deal. Laptop has good reviews. Latest Gen i5, SSD, and very mild graphics.
The major drawbacks are that the screen is a little dim, the glossy screen makes the dim screen worse, and that the type C USB 3.1 port is first Gen. Those are pretty mild IMO.

This looks good to me. The processor's pretty quick and the MX150 benches at about twice what most intel onboard cards bench at. The only negative is the ram being soldered in/capped at 8 gigs, but with a separate card that isn't as much of an issue as it could be with an onboard graphics card that shares system memory with the processor.

You might be able to, but I'm not sure what the model number of the Costco laptop is.

If this was the 14" version I'd be all over it. Would need to renew our Costco membership and pay tax/shipping of $70 which really kills it.

Same. This 15.6" version is much too heavy at 4.63lbs. The 14" would stay lower than 4lbs.

Are the bad reviews about the screen for the extremely picky? Right now my laptop has a 720p TN display, and the only thing that bothers me is the poor viewing angles. Would I even notice "the average brightness of 239 cd/m²" or "The brightness distribution is unusually uneven. 69% is the worst value our tester has seen in all their years at Notebookcheck"?

Heads up, there's also two similarly specced (8250u+mx150 15.6" 1080p) Acers on amazon for less.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspir...B075KCJHMD
This one is actually lighter than the swift (4.41lb vs 4.63lb), but battery life suffers (up to 7h). $580.57

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspir...B075FLBJV7
This one is a traditional weight for a 15.6" at 5.27lb, but boasts up to 15h battery life. $599.00.
