Docking Station for Dell XPS 15

3 10 January 28, 2018 at 06:36 AM
I just ordered a Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop, and I want to find a docking station for it in the next couple weeks. I would like it to provide power, as well as support 2-3 monitors and have a 3.5mm audio jack and several USB 3 ports, and an ethernet port.

As it will have a thunderbolt 3 port, I believe it will be compatible with USB C and thunderbolt 3 docks. The XPS 15 comes with a 130W power supply. It is the 1080p version.

The Dell WD15 docking station is available with 130W adapter or 180W adapters. Would the 130W adapter be enough, or is a significant amount of power consumed by the docking station?

Could you help me find a deal on the WD15 or recommend something comparable with enough power for the XPS 15?

i run dual 4k + laptop monitor off the dell tb16 dock. well built with built in cooling. jump on ebay and grab it on the cheap. like $130-140 for the 230W (i just went big to avoid any sort of voltage throttling and who knows what other peripherals i'll use later).

edit: I also have the xps15 and it does single-cable charge/connect with monitors, keyboad, mouse, cell phone, and headset all plugged into dock.
