Just a warning, the Windows version has had a major glitch since 1/1/18 where a number of people have not been able to access their file if they had budgets or bill pay features. The Quicken team has been largely incompetent and have issued two software fixes which is still causing issues for people. It's been almost a month and they are still dealing with the issues and people are rightfully pissed.

That's how I feel whenever I have to call if things don't work automatically, whether it's shopping, software, or even appliances in my house, Quicken included:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leyn-oS5ASI

With Quicken, I just need to download statements from my bank and Credit card (without going to each bank's web site individually). I really don't need all the mumbo-jumbo with "budgeting", stock quotes, "investments", summaries and reports, let alone having it stored in the cloud, or my phone (really last two places I need it at). It is 2018, and none of software vendors can deliver something that can do these simple things.

It also looks like I am stuck with Quicken, as nobody else seems to be able to reliably download bank and credit card transactions. I am surprised at how Quicken can sell their new software for $50/year. I can afford to pay this due to high cost of my time (and I am still unhappy with the quality of software), but I don't know how majority of the US population can justify paying $50/year for this.

What does 27 months of subscription means, do I get 2018, then 2019, and 2020?

That is what I think, it seems it is a subscription based software now...

Ever since intuit sold quicken the product has gone down hill. I bought 2017 without realizing this and am constantly nagged when I open the software to update and buy 2018. Why u have to login into their portal to download cc transactions Is just silly. Smells like data collection to me. After all it is a private equity firm they sold it too. All i want to do is balance the books.

I was on Q 2015 and now Q 2017 and I received a snail mail from them last week that my "connected services" will be disconnected 4/1/2018 because I have Quicken 2015. Shouldn't I have connect services until 4/1/2020?

If Q 2017 is not subscription based YES it would be good until 2020. I think I'm on Q2016 and it's good until 2019 (hopefully) and then at that time I will probably not renew it. Doesn't seem worth it to me even tho I've been using Quicken since it first came out.

I would not upgrade until absolutely necessary. If you have a working one why not stay with it unless there are a few new features that you need.

If Quicken is going online then I guess it's time to check Quickbooks which is still owned by Intuit or simply use Excel. I hope there are a lot of people that refuse to pay this price and maybe they will make some changes if they want to sell their software.

I was looking for this ... Thanks for sharing

I think there has been SD posts where it's been cheaper. You might want to check it out and also look at the reviews on it. You can always purchase an older version probably a lot cheaper. On the new 2018 versions you will have to watch for your subscription time as that will vary Frown

I have been using Quicken for years. My Quicken 2015 version will no longer be supported in April so I looked for alternatives. Recently I switched over to Personal Capital and have been really pleased with the features and support.

Although I will lose the historical data I have in Quicken I feel it is the best move right now. Quicken has not innovated at all and is really the same product it was 10 years ago. Now that they went to yearly licensing, they finally forced my hand and made me find an alternative.

Personal Capital is cloud based, isn't it?

There is sales tax in the cart, at least for me.

27-month Home, Business & Rental Property, which CCC says was $160 until today, is currently $96.

Does anyone know if the term starts when you purchase or when you register it on Quicken.com? I'm guessing the latter, but would like confirmation from someone who's done it.

They used to give 3 years, so 2018 looks as business as usual, and 2017 version will be good till 2020

Do we have any good alternatives that have the same connectivity options. I hate the software as a service idea.
