Does this go force you to shopping trips or it is really a tour where you can go out and sightsee? Price really sounds to good to be true...

Thumbs Down! These "Chinese tours" are same as "Caribbean hotel + timeshare offer" crap, i.e. your are going to be hold hostage until you buy all kind of useless merchandise at local shops, and essentially never allowed to go anywhere else. And, it is in a foreign country, so an american "tourist" will have zero chance to leave this extortion. STOP POSTING THESE!

Likely subsidized by shopping. Hours and hours of shopping, but probably fine if budget is your #1 priority.

3 star hotels,50-60% of time is going to factory tours where prices are high an travel company gets large commission, food below average,

from reviews
you on the go from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm on the bus to the set tours and the shopping factories. No diversions. You don't check into your hotel until late at night and have very little free time They always seem to take you to dinThe tour guide demanded we pay a set tip price upfront so he could divvy it up to the local guides (when the package clearly said we were on our own to tip who and how we wanted if we preferred) Refusing to do that caused the guide great stress and I finally caved after 4 days and just gave it to him to stop him from bugging me at every opportunity. I felt maybe the local guides didn't get what they deserved. I don't think he liked me very much.ner on the bus an hour from your hotel - you never dine near your accommodations. When 3/4 of the bus didn't want to pay to do an optional tour (ie live theatre) the guides answer was that we would just have to wait 3 hours on the bus while the other passengers did the tour. This almost caused a mutiny. We didn't wait of course but we were on our own to find our way to our hotel. It was a fun night as there was safety in numbers!

Yeah, shopping trips on all the tours. They'll take you everywhere else they promise you but the rest of the day will be shopping trips that you can't get out of. And you can't leave on your own. They hold your documents ransom. You must go on the guided tours.

Having been on one of these, here's my 30 second review:

Be prepared for shopping - lots of shopping. Unbearable amounts where you will be guilted into buying crap by the pushiest assholes you'll ever meet. Just remember you don't have to do anything you don't want to. I did get some fake DVD's and a watch just to be nice. Just recognize the fact of how cheap it was to get it here and that will be enough to push you through the hell of being paraded around markets like a dollar sign.

If you want to see China on your terms, this ain't the deal. If you just want to experience a foreign culture and have some good stories, it's tolerable.

Yeah, they shuttle you to a few government owned shops and give you their best sales pitch. The tour guide themselves also try their best to sell you the optional excursions. If you can get around and have rudimentary Mandarin, you can absolutely enjoy this trip. Also pack light because they move you to different hotels almost everyday.

Having worked for a major luxury goods retailer for years in asset protection, I have to admit that the first couple of days were fun trolling all the supposedly real handbags and wallets. They'd try to prop Louis Vuitton's on me as 'the real mccoy' and I would counter with how a model has the mongrams the wrong way, incorrect stitching, wrapped in plastic, etc. All I would hear is 'You only know American Louis Vuitton, China different and better.'

Got old pretty fast day after day to the point where I just wanted to get back on the plane and go home.
