If you're interested in this, you should really search eBay for "melamine sponge"... They are basically the exact same thing, but you can get 50-100 prieces for this price.

If ordering on eBay make sure you get the thick ones , there are several teeny tiny ones that are super cheap .

I agree that there are cheaper alternatives but their quality is hit or miss. I have had 2 out of 4 duds - from same supplier.

The coupon also works on these "extra durable" ones. They a little thinner (.7" vs 1.0"), but eligible for Subscribe & Save.

With 15% off S&S, total before tax is $3.97.

Interesting, I'm still on my first batch of 100 pads, but have had no issues.
I posted a similar deal to this a while back and a fellow SDer clued me in on the cheaper option.
So I actually purchased these and the bathroom specific ones to compare along with ordering the generic one off eBay.
It really surprised me that they are basically Identical, and for just a fraction of price. We couldn't tell any in use performance difference.
That stinks you got a bad batch. Hopefully you used eBay to resolve it and get your money back.

These work great on fishing rods that have cork grip. Makes the dirty cork look brand new!

Have to make sure you soak your cork first.

Always curious when people mention eBay on for melamine sponges whenever Magic Erasers are posted.

How much space do the 100 sponges take up? Just like typical small appliance size box?

They sent mine in a plastic shipping bag, measured about 1'4" x 1'6". The ones I got are just a little bit thinner, but not much, than the name brand. But I think I paid less than $4 for 100, so that didn't bother me to much. And in use, they seem to all wear it the same.
I was really sceptical at first, as I am not a fan of cheap generic stuff... But then I thought about it... It's not like buying a generic brand computer or tool, it's just a cut piece of a type of material.
