Good for reading and understanding but just stick with the S&P 500 index fund. After reading this book, read ' Random Walk down walstreet' that shows empirical evidence that monkeys are as effective as humans in picking stocks over long term. In a nutshell, there is no magic bullet. This will help with understanding the basics and make you smarter but over long term, you will never be always successful. Decades ago Warren Buffet issued a $1M challenge to all hedge fund managers to beat the s&p 500 index. No one has beaten it so far. So be smart and stick with VOO or VTI (lookup Google)

Got free digital goods credit to burn, what the heck - even if the publication date says nearly two decades ago...

This is from the nineties. Today it's worthless.

Is this any similar to John Hull's "Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives"?

Don't assume it's useless cause it's from the 90's. See "Where are the Customers Yachts" for example. (Published originally in the 1920's. I'd say it's still completely relevant today!)

Never read this, and honestly, if it were free I might consider, but I think I'll pass.
