Bluestone Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor is on sale for $14.99 on Wal-Mart. This item is $33.60 on Amazon and appears to be extremely cheap for a highly rated item.

I've used the same no-feature, basic Omron unit for 6 to 8 times a day for 4 years as a home health therapist. Dropped it a dozen times and it slings around in my bag all day long getting in and out of my car and setting my bag on floors. Never skipped a beat and always is within spec of a good manual read.

We all use cheapo units in home health and any accuracy issues is because of poor cuff placement or user error like failing to keep patients from talking during readings. The wrist ones are the wildcards but even those are ok for your average person with an average wrist size. The cheapest units like these will typically work just fine but the fittings and the hoses are sometimes brittle and prone to cracks where people crimped the hoses while storing.

With these BP monitors, you get what you pay for. Most of these are hard to use, show inaccurate readings or fail within a matter of months. Even the Omron ones are so-so - most of them don't last more than a year or two.

Agreed. However, this one has seven reviews on Amazon with a 5 star rating and 11 reviews on Wal-Mart with 4.5 star. Hard to get much better than that for a discounted $15 blood pressure monitor.

While this is true , you also have to remember a lot of people don't truly understand how to use these. Most people will let this dangle off their arm with loud music blaring in the background and wonder why it doesn't read accurately.

I know most people have blaring music but I'm skeptical of the dangling part

Cuff needs to be at the level of the heart to be accurate, so rest it on a table or what not

Which Omron model did you buy? I have had the same one since 2011 and it still works fine up to now.

My mother literally just bought an Omron 7 series a few days ago and it works extremely well. I looked at the description for this one and it says it only fits up to 13" circumference, hers goes up to 17" so take that into consideration before you buy this because it might not fit your arm. Hers also came with a free pedometer but that's never getting used. I think it can also connect to your phone with an app but haven't done that yet.

Medical devices are unlike the regular electronic appliances. Lacks quality in most of the consumer used devices and are best when it comes to enterprise(Hospital) medical devices.

The industry is the same since its birth. Frown
