Newegg site says 1 year warranty. If correct that is a no go.

Not bad - performance is inbetween the 850 EVO 256GB and the 850 EVO 512GB. Closer to the 256GB. This uses the same nand and controller as the ADATA SU800 but with a modified firmware to give it better performance.

So for $5 more i'd rather get the new Crucial MX500 500GB SSD:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...-_-Product

5yr. warranty and a very fast drive.

Buy the MX500 at BH Photo for $10 off with the android promo and no tax. Best sata SSD deal available ATM imho. While comparing SSDs the HP is definitely a big step down below the performance of the 850, 860 and MX500.

I wonder if it's anywhere as reliable as Samsung SSDs are. Been using the 840 EVO 240gb for over 3 years with no issues and have been running 100+ chrome tabs about 12+ hours a day.

850 EVO will be on sale soon after 860 is out. Why not wait?

Yeah no idea - I have a Toshiba SSD I got 4 or 5 years ago as my main drive and an EVO for additional space for games (2-3 years old). Both are 240 - 256GB drives. Would really like a 512 or 1TB next to replace a 2TB mechanical drive (filled with more games). Couldn't find much info on the HP listed here but the one review I read said it was a highly optimized firmware using a common low or mid range ssd controller.

As far as chrome tab reliability/performance I don't think I've read any reviews for that. My wife would probably be interested in those benchmarks though laugh out loud

Found a review: https://www.anandtech.com/print/1...ssd-review
For anyone who didn't actually take the time to read this, these drives are terrible.
