Mini Maglite Xenon with holster and extra bulbs $5 at walmart in-store

I found these while looking for something a bit more reliable than cheapy 3-cell LED lights for car kits. These are blister packs with the nylon holster, 2 Duracell AAs, and 2 extra xenon bulbs (as well as 1 in the light and 1 in the tailpiece). Not as bright/great as their LED stuff, but more than adequate for backup.

There are multiple SKUs based on color; here are the ones I located so far:
  • 14321409 - red
  • 14321408 - black
  • 14321410 - blue (mine was purple?)
  • 14321407 - gray

In my walmart these were near the firearms counter, clearly marked at $5; The walmart.com listings showed them at $7.82.

Thanks OP, I have weakness for flashlights and I caved in. Lots of red ones available for $5 at many nearby Walmarts here, grabbed a red one and a blue one.

The sad thing is, for $5 you can get any of the Chinese lights and they will be so much brighter. Sure, you can't run your car over the Chinese stuff, but then again, I haven't done that yet in my life.

I had the big 7 D cell maglites that took old filament bulbs and I couldn't sell them for anything. Ended up giving them away to Goodwill. Unfortunately for Maglite, LED tech has destroyed their model.

I, too, find the passing of an icon to be sad.
My Mag-lights, all have LEDs, now.
The last Xenon I had ended up with a leaked battery.

Technically $7.82 is not the regular price, that's the Walmart sale price online. The regular retail for these are about $11 (on Amazon) and a bit more at other retailers.

Also, I will be cancelling my in-store pickup order. Slept on it and decided I didn't need them, even with my weakness for flashlights.

Maglite does sell led conversion kits for these, but not sure what the price is.

If this was LED, it would be a deal.

I retrofitted one of these with an led. I'm pretty sure I won't have to change batteries for years and years.

Has anyone else noticed poor quality coming from MagLite? I used to LOVE their lights but have nothing but problems with them now (mostly referring to the LED ones). I've found some third party conversion kits to be better and some to be worse than MagLite's.

Any suggestions on decent flashlight brands that don't cost a ridiculous amount of money that take ACTUAL disposable batteries. You know, the kind you can buy ANYWHERE, not the kind that require some power station to recharge?
