Looks to be $10 $20 cheaper than previous posted deal.

From site:
Play Anything You Want in Super High Res
4K content is on the rise. See it how it was meant to be seen with this Ultra-HD Blu-ray player from Sony. Combined with a 4K resolution, the player is equipped with High Dynamic Range for the ultimate in color contrast, brightness, and clarity. This works to enhance the imagery from content that's not already formatted in 4K. Plus, HDR signals contain up to 100 times the brightness of standard SDR signal, drastically elevating picture quality. It's no slouch with regard to sound, either. With a DTS Decoder and Dolby Atmos, the player treats sounds as separate objects. That means they're able to move around freely for an immersive audio experience, especially in intense scenes. The system's playing power goes far beyond just Blu-ray discs, too: Use it for DVDs, CDs, BD-ROMs, and more.

Note: This drop has limited quantities available.
The UBP-UX80 is the exact same product as the UBP-X800. There is no difference in components used or with quality. The only difference is model UBP-X80 comes with an HDMI cable.

Great, well-built player (it's a tank)....at less than half what I paid for it when it came out. A few issues here & there, but all electronics have them...

Is there a huge step down in performance?

That LG is a disc player only. No Apps on it. Can't stream. It is Ethernet connection only and the connection is for firmware updates only.

Also, the Sony has 2 HDMI outputs. So you can have 1 going to your 4K TV and another going to your AV receiver. This is useful for people who are using older receivers that don't have 4K pass through.

The LG has only 1 HDMI output.

I have the X800 (same) and it's awesome. Solid and quiet. Amazing picture and plays everything.

Ok, I'm in for one. I was looking for a Sony 4K player and 100 bucks was my trigger. So let's see if it works out.

Can the PS4 Pro play 4k UHD disks? I didn't think they could. I know they can stream 4k, but I didn't think they had a supporting drive built in.
If what I understand is correct, then you would need a 4k player (like this or similar) if you want to play 4k UHD discs.

If you have/will have 4k physical discs, than yes you would need a 4k player.
However, if you are streaming, than no, you do not need this. PS4 Pro can stream 4k content and can also play 4k contact from a external harddrive.

I've used them for group buys several times. It's a mixed bag.Mechanical Keyboard stuff seems to be plagued with the most delays, and it's also a intense group, so they're very vocal. Camping/hiking stuff seems to go alright. I would hope with something like Sony the production / availability is better than some artisan produced product.

SD got me again. I was going to buy one of these but then didn't when I realized that a HDR download from a UHD-Blu-ray rip of Blue Planet II looked awesome when played through my TCL Roku TV's USB port (i.e., I don't really need physical discs to get truly great-looking content). But now I'm buying this anyway!
