Costco has this + the hub for $119.99 for those interested. I feel like the hub is essential when having this.

edited price.

I'm a little ignorant on the subject. What exactly does the hub do?

The remote can work with IR or through RF conneciton to the hub. The hub if connected will transmit via IR to your devices. Basically the hub allows you to use your remote without pointing at the tv/bluray. You can also use Amazon Alexa or Google home to control your devices with the hub.

This, plus you can control devices remotely. If you don't care about those features, then you should be ok with this.

More details on the hub here:

If I already have the home hub will this work with it? Or do I have to start all over?

As I have mentioned on previous threads here, the button layout sucks on this remote for using a TiVo or DVR. Get the smaller one without the screen that has the hub included. Yes, you won't have access to every single button from the individual remotes without the app, but you will have a much better layout where you can easily reach the most important buttons. The long press feature essentially doubles the amount of buttons and is THE game changer on the remotes that are RF and use the hub.

In addition to what was said above, it can also control some devices over WiFi that can't be controlled using IR, like the Nvidia shield and Smartthings.

I have both remotes, the one without the screen has no backlight on the buttons.... Deal breaker for me. If it was backlit, I'd recommend it.

But the layout is so good with the different sized buttons and the ability to reach them all simply that it took me only a few days to know where every button is in the dark. I still have a couple other Harmony remotes with the screen and that are back lit and I look at them like oversized dinosaurs.

This was $69 few months ago. There's no hub.
