This tplink c2600 is vastly superior to the asus ac1900. Some comparison:

cpu: ipq8064 vs bcm4708
ipq8064 is much faster than bcm4708. That means ipq8064 has a higher bandwidth ceiling when you need the router to do VPN/Traffic shaping.

mimo: 4x4 vs 3x3
tplink c2600 is a 4x4 ac2600 class router. asus ac1900 is a 3x3 ac1900 class router.
In general the more antenna the better - with more antennas and DSP you get higher sensitivity and a better SNR (signal to noise ratio) for the same setup. Yes, a 2x2 client works better with a 4x4 access point than with a 3x3 access point even when the client can only utilize 2 spatial streams.

open source support:
broadcom is notorious for proper open source support in its wireless driver. While ath10k (from qualcomm atheros) includes a firmware binary at least it let you compile against arbitrary linux kenel version. The wireless driver wl package for broadcom is pretty much locked to some specific linux kernel version, and for this reason a lot of the broadcom wireless chipsets cannot be supported by openwrt/lede. Open source support is one major advantage - vulnerabilities like KRACK are patched within couple days in openwrt/lede/ddwrt while a lot other routers are left unpatched to this day. You also get the benefit enjoying cutting edge tools like cake qdisc that helps fighting network latency problem.

Thanks.. looks like this is the best TP-LINK offers. Wonder why the C9 is more expensive. I bought the refurb asus ac1900 for $45 two weeks ago. That one has been working fabulously but need one more as a backup.

There are many other TP-LINK Archer models to consider before making that kind of statement. Here is a more complete list: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK...r_C_series

I've had the C7, C9, and now the 2600. The 2600 has been the best so far in terms of stability and performance. I've a gamer in a single family household. This is a good price.

This is Tp-Links number 1 rated router on smallnetbuilder so I echo the previous users sentiments. This is the best they have with a QAC, if I didnt need an Asus for my future NordVPN router setup I would be all over this. Still might get this as a backup price is right.

Promo Code for $10 off: EMCPRPR37

+Tax in some states (thanks, newegg Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) )

This is my first deal submission in a long time, please don't hate me, but I think it's a pretty decent deal on some good, useful tech. This is a major upgrade to anyone using the wi-fi that comes with their ISP-supplied cable modem (hint: they all suck, badly)
