I believe, I saw the same for $10 before, but couldn't find that thread.

Anyway, Gearbest (w/ very poor security) has Original Xiaomi Smart Home Aqara Human Body Sensor for $10.99 + FS.

I received an email with this price. And the product page says that is the price of $10.99 is "email only price". Not sure what means, I would simply say YMMV.

I don't own this product, but from review, it looks like this works well with smartthings w/o any custom DH.

I ordered 1 for myself, using paypal.

Nice price for a motion sensor. Thing looks huge from the picture.

Most important question though, what type battery does it use and how long does it last?

These motion sensors are never "not" on sale at gearbest (in other words, always on sale). They usually hover around $10-11. It does work with smartthings but you have to use custom code using SmartThings IDE. In any case, they work well and are still significantly cheaper than most other options. They are supposed to last for 2 years before needing a battery replacement.

I got 2 around the same price last year. I5 is true that the price does not change much over time. It may be a buck more or less any time you look at it there. One started having problem after a few months and cannot be stably connected to my ST be hub. It is not a battery problem. The other one works very well though.

Anyway, I bought 3 Mijia pen from Gearbest last year for $1 each, all delivered, took about a month, at least it is not a scam website.

GearBest is legit. The free shipping option can take up to three months, however.

Not intentionally, but if they lose or screw up your order, they won't give your money back unless you fight them, and that can take a lot of time and energy.

There are still people that haven't gotten their orders from november, and gearbest just tells you to wait and won't refund your order.

So if you buy from them:

1) Expect your order can take from 3-weeks to 3 months+.

2) Forget returns/refunds from GB, and expect only to deal with Paypal who can be slow to process claims.

3) If/when you receive your package, set your camera down and set it to record. Show all angles of the package up close to show it has not been opened, and then proceed to open it on camera. Verify the contents are correct, and don't move it out of frame when testing it. This is often the level of proof you need with Paypal to get a refund if you order say a yellow drone and then ship you a yellow pencil sharpener.

Or just be smart and don't order from gearbest, they are bad even by Chinese company standards.

I've had [mostly] good luck with the Xiaomi sensors with SmartThings. Last year I ordered 5 of the sister version [gearbest.com] of these (without the positioning post). I would have gotten these had I known they existed.

Two things:
  • I recommend the priority shipping. The $2-3 option. It's worth it. You'll get it relatively quickly and it will include insurance (passed along from an old gearbest thread I can no longer find).
  • These have a narrow sensing field and a reasonably quick recycle time. The defaults on the bigger SmartThings/GE sensors are a 4-minute recycle and a much wider sensing range. These can be very useful for a purposeful use case. For example, I use one to trigger my study lights and monitor backlights when I approach my standing desk.
The battery life is quite good, imo.

I did have one of the 5 that is flaky and doesn't reliably stay connected. I'm good with those stats.

Priority is not always worth it. I got 2 drones shipped at the same time. Paid priority for one, and econo for the other. The econo one arrived a week before the priority. It took over 60 days either way. GearBest can has some great deals, but don't order anything time sensitive.

It's actually the smallest being sold by any major brand

That sounds weird, should have been delivered within 15 business days, unless they didn't ship it for awhile because of stock?
