You go to the iTunes Store and you search for these movies. Apple ecosystem doesn't do links.

You can't accidentally buy the HD or SD versions. If you have 4K capability (I.e. Mac or Apple TV 4K) with a 4K display, you'll get 4K.

Nope. Apple gives you free 4K upgrades. Vudu does not. If you're serious about 4K streaming for movies, I definitely recommend the Apple 4K tv. It's basically caused me to stop buying 4K UHD movies. Well that and the $30 price tag for most UHD new releases which is an absolute joke.

So even though it's outright at 4k, not an iTunes upgrade to an HD purchase, it still does not port?

Here you go. You will need to have iTunes installed in order to purchase.

E.T. [apple.com]
Apollo 13 [apple.com]
T2 [apple.com]
Groundhog Day [apple.com]

If the title is MA for some studios it will port to that locker as UHD, though you can't see quality to verify. If Vudu has the title in UHD it may port there as well, its studio dependent. None of these titles will afaict.

FWIW FandangoNOW has Groundhog Day UHD for $8 after promo code. It will transfer to UV locker but not to Vudu as they don't have it in UHD, it will be HDX.

Right. Vudu doesn't have any of these in 4K. Just HD. Does anyone actually use fandango now? How's the compression quality? I've been let down by Vudu which I believe to be quite a downgrade from UHD Disc.

I just bought ET and Apollo 13. Both are availible in my Movies Anywhere account, but only at HD, not 4k.

Well there was just a FP deal for 4K titles on FN, but I guess some of that was related to who posted it, as Groundhog Day for the same price is getting TDs. Some of those titles may have ported so that could account for the popularity but FN can be a good complement for Vudu users, though as UV becomes less relevant it won't continue that way.

How do you know they are HD? MA doesn't show quality. They should be UHD there. They won't port to Vudu in UHD as already discussed.

Does Amazon sell 4k movies? Cause it would be great for non apple people, like me, if Amazon would price match these 4k deals.

It's worth mentioning that Apple DOESN'T upgrade your purchases from other services using Movies Anywhere in 4K. So if you are someone like me who owned the HDX version of Groundhog's Day on Vudu you are now stuck with the HD version on iTunes with no way to upgrade to the 4K version except buying a copy as a gift at full price and emailing it to yourself.

Movies Anywhere does not currently support 4K UHD (or 3D). They may in the future, but as of now there is no possible way to view any movies within the Movies Anywhere app at 4k UHD.
