Anyone have any experience buying bodies off of this site? I got a lens before but weary about an "import" model

OP, it would be good to know why $1900 for a camera is a slick deal. This is more than the average American's retirement fund value.
It has more professional justifications that would be better researched on your own, off Slickdeals. However the short and sweet answer is: if you can't already fathom an idea for why expensive cameras exist, you don't need it.

I'm assuming that because OP posted this deal that they think it's slick. I'm just asking to share that reason. What is the normal price for this camera? Is it worth the money?

Broccoli: $1.49/lb. So what?!
Sh...... talk less and google more. Then you won't make yourself out to be a fool as often.

Kenrockwell is an old fashioned Nikon-Canon whore-brand worshiper, his opinions on Sony systems are totally bias and useless to the point of completely stupid/idiot. A serious photographer would never visit this site for professional review.

I'm assuming you're one of those old farts with less than average American's retirement fund and live off broccoli?

While what you say might be completely and utterly true, it's still useful to read opposition research.

There is no such thing as an "International Version" of this camera, or any other. It is a grey-market product not sold by an manufacturer-authorized seller. The camera is new, but grey-market items generally do not have a manufacturer's warranty. Some manufacturers won't repair the gear at any price, others require it to be sent to the originally intended overseas country of marketing. This seller offers a warranty that covers one year parts, but only 30 days labor, and doesn't disclose who will do the repairs. That seems pretty risky to me, considering the cost of labor is set by the repair shop...what if the repair estimate is $1400? The buyer has no option but to pay or take the loss.

This camera also appears to be sold without a manual (at least not one in English).

These considerations may or may not matter to you. Good price, but think twice.

That's simply not true. Especially when it comes to Japanese cameras. They have JDM and international versions. What's the big difference? The JDM versions don't support any other language than Japanese.

His review on the A7riii seems to suggest otherwise.

It's a slick deal because this camera goes for $2300-2400 average US version. A big savings if you don't mind the international warranty (Asia). Is it worth it? that's a question for the individual. In my case it is worth it.

I didn't know that, so I stand corrected. Nonetheless, this item has a sketchy warranty and no English manual, so I'd personally avoid it, even if I were in the market for a Sony.
