My house was worth 220k 2 years ago. Now it's 300k. Crazy what time and demand does to things.

You're overpaying for 2 year old technology. I don't care if it's $350 or $600, it's still overpaying.

This 2 year old technology should cost no more than $200.

A year and a half tech, and 100 over MSRP (249 intro at the time of release in July 2016), but okay, I'll certainly give you it's not anywhere NEAR a deal for that time. However, this IS a deal compared to everything else available for that class. Consider the time and market, they dictate the prices (unfortunately).

If it wasn't worth $250 to you at launch, or $280 to you 2 months ago. Then it won't be worth $350 to you today.
Otherwise it most likely depends on how you feel about a 4-5 month ROI.

But if you want a card today it helps to know when they are available and the ones that can be had for the lower end of today's prices.

A 2 year old laptop isn't going to be worth more today than when you bought it. This is quite literally 2 year old computer technology that's going for an inflated rate due to cryto currency. Your house and the land it sits on has resale value. You don't see an iPhone 5 selling for double what it initially sold for.

It doesn't work because although he is primarily paying for a house at the time, the land is where the real value is. You can create more GPUs and the price will go back down. You can't create more land. A GPUs value is only determined by the demand for it, nothing can really improve the GPUs price besides that. Whereas a houses value is mainly determined by surrounding area and median income, etc...

How is an investment, video card is not. 5 years from now the card will cost $50 or so. Your house hopefully will be at $400k.

This card was $200 two years ago via Jet.com

You get first time purchase discount, no return discount, and slow shipping discount which made it $200 shipped to my door. It's crazy how it's nearly doubled two years later, and the card is still running strong.

Note: I only did the no return option because it was an Evga card which has the best warranty in the business.
