Interested in this one. Where has it been cheaper and how much cheaper? All the deals I have seen have been for the one with a smaller drive in it.

Yeah the cheapest one I saw when I checked the history on slickdeals was this one:

$20 off lol. This site is garbage now.
That's why I said it's not the cheapest it's been, but for anyone waiting for it to go on sale it's at least decent. It was good enough for me to pick up one.

In this case, I'd say this price is decent since it only goes on sale 2-3 times per year.

I wouldn't recommend the pro if you plan to use more than 500gb of storage. The os installs system files on external storage rendering the internal storage unusable. Less they patched it. Better off just getting the 16gb version and adding a large external drive that way you only lose the 16gb of internal storage and not 500gb

You wouldn't buy it at $300 but $280 was enough off to tempt you??? Shit dude, all you had to do to get even ten percent off ($30) is ask a manager. These days it's a normal request and usually granted if he store has any business sense.

I'm just tired of all these "deals" that aren't even luke warm. A slick deal would be $100 off or more. Not twenty bucks. That's not even 10% off.
Who said I wouldn't buy it at $300? I would have if it wouldn't have gone on sale soon, but might as well save a little when possible. And as for asking a manager, gets more difficult when it's a product that doesn't get carried in many stores. Most only carry the 16 gig. Considering it went front page for $5 less then it's worth it to some people. If you don't like it don't buy it.

On the flip side, the 500gb is better for people with large Plex libraries since the 16gb can fill up quickly with metadata.

This^^^

I have the 16gb version. I don't feel there is any reason to have the 500 gb version.

Install kodi, and stream or add a network storage and you can stream downloaded videos/ripped dvds.

If you have a large plex library why in the heck would you have it on a shield?

Not the media itself but the Metadata for the library. Right now it's limited to the internal storage and cannot be moved to external. They are working on a fix for this. The only way to do it now is to root. I have close to 500 movies and maybe 300 tv shows and my library is only about 2gb so it hasn't been an issue for me yet.

I bought open-box at microcenter at $210 last summer. Look for open-box deals. For running a Plex server, you can't beat the Shield.
