It's a good deal if you don't want to wait until a little later this year to get chips that don't have the security flaw.

Personally, I'm just waiting......

Just bought. I missed this deal last time because I waited and it sold out.

As for the new chips, it's going to be a while before those chips are out in enough volume to be able to get a good deal on one. My hunch is that it will take a year before you'll see those new chips come down to this price point. And since the vulnerabilities are already patched, I think this is a pretty slick deal.

I'm in the same boat, but if it ain't broke don't fix it, we need to wait

Strait up yes

I think microcenter has or had this price then another $30 off bundle savings with motherboard. Of course then theres tax but net should still be $20-$25 less if u needed a mobo and they have one at a good price (usually they do)

Where do you get the fix? My 4770k was never patched by msft

Intentional design is not a flaw but a feature according to Intel. I'm sure the NSA is still pissed that another one of their crypto bypass techniques is compromised.

This is a bad time to build a PC. Intel chips without security flaws will take 1+ year to come out, video card prices are insane due to crypto currency, and DDR 4 prices are through the roof. I'd like a new PC (mine is like 3 years old) but damn.

Unfortunately, sometimes you HAVE to build a new system.

That's me! Realized that Assassin's Creed Origins won't let me play on old ass Phenom II! Other than my CPU, everything else in my PC is good-to-spec to play; they just compiled the game with needing SSE4.1/4.2 extensions that only the FX line started to support. I really want a Ryzen, but I'm holding out - probably until they patch their vulnerabilities in silicon, or until DDR4 prices drop. Looking at an intermediate system now myself to hold me over for another year or so.

Is this deal ONLY possible on ebay, meaning no way to get it with a mobo combo?
