I got one last time for this price was good deal. Good strong overall receiver. Only thing I do not like is you cannot have zone2 turn off/on automatically when zone 1 turns off/on. No buttons on the remote for this only independent zone 1 and zone 2 power. The app on the phone has an All Zones off/on so I put in a request to have them add this to the program up down buttons so that I can set my roku sideclick to learn these commands.

I have a deal alert set for this and it just popped up on my phone at 4:45pm CST. I live 2.5 hours from Fry's. Why so late?

Yamaha Aventage receivers are pretty much the gold standard for consumer receivers in terms of price to features to reliability. Fry's seems to be the only retailer that ever has awesome deals on them, but every such deal is in-store only. Being in Connecticut, there is no Fry's near me for 1000 miles and I miss out every time. I would love to get this receiver at this price.

Wish this deal came through 3 weeks ago. I wanted this receiver, but price seemed fixed at $1100. Was happy to get the 1060 (last year"s model) for $800.

My dennon has horrible Wi-Fi features. The app for it rarely works, it won't always connect to internet radio, the CEC messes up the rest of my CEC enabled devices. Customer service tells me to factory reset it every time, and it works, for about a week. I wouldn't recommend Dennon to anyone.

4400 has 9 channels, this Yamaha only 7. I'd compare 4400 to the Yamaha 2070, but it costs a few hundred more.

A1070 is probably equivalent to x3400h.

I am not sure about the sound quality, but yesterday, I had time to listen to music and movie at Best Buy store and I liked Denon/Marantz much better than Pioneer/Yamaha. I have Denon X4300 ($649) and I haven't set it up.

How does the CEC mess up your other devices?

I ask because I have all kinds of issues with CEC, but I have no if it's my TV, the receiver, or the device itself.

More to it than the number of channels

Better build quality in the Yamaha

The yamaha 2070 is in definitely in another league than the X4400

and you will not see the A2070 for half price as Fry's like the X4400 will be probably every month
