Good deal but I would rather pay the extra 10 bucks for that 500GB Crucial MX500 SSD currently in Newegg as well.

Also obligatory post: waiting on 1TBs to drop price lol

I bit on this one.. if I had a .edu account I would have gotten one of the EVO's from the Unidays posts! Is there a reason you're going for the Crucial over the the HP? They looked pretty comparable to me, so I'm just curious!

Crucial MX500 https://www.anandtech.com/show/12...b-review/2
HP S700 Pro https://www.anandtech.com/show/11...d-review/2

Just glancing quickly but the MX500 looks like it's a competitor with Samsung 850 Evo 500 while the S700 Pro 512 is behind in every regard. S700 Pro has 1 year warranty but Samsung and Crucial is 5 years.

Still a good price if you need one now.

Thanks! I've got all the laptops and desktops in my house on SSDs and it's hard for me to see a real difference between any of them performance wise (granted, I've never tried out any that show as big of an on paper performance deficit as the lowest ones in the links you had, they're all 840/850 EVOs, a Crucial from a few years ago, SanDisk, etc). I'm always curious to hear more about if others see a real world difference or not. Thanks again!

I don't think I would notice real world differences, but the Evo 850 500GB has been on sale for $130 and has a 5 year warranty so now that I need one but don't have to have one right away I'll wait. Making do with an SD card in the laptop right now.

Yes, for a few bucks more I ended up getting the Evo 500GB on unidays. Unfortunately it is on back order so wanted to give ppl a heads up if they go that route.

I wonder if it will start to get harder to get the 850's since the 860s just releases recently. Hopefully those will drop on sale for 130's too. I think this is still decent if you need one now.

Don't say something sucks unless you had personal experience with it. Guru3D review of the Samsung 860 PRO actually had a PCMark 7 Chart that showed the HP SSD S700 PRO 1TB performing better than the "new" 2TB 860 PRO; granted it was only on one chart and one test. Then inexplicably in a few days they "updated" all the charts to PCMark 8 and left out the HP SSD from the comparisons. Go figure, use your brain or something...

HP, Micron, Sandisk, WD, Samsung - all are good Tier1 IT brands. Which is the top PC brand?
