Nice phone, excellent battery life. Was sent one as a replacement for a 2015 Moto X Pure. Camera leaves much to be desired though - especially in low light. I tried this after using a Samsung GS6 Edge + and the difference in screen resolution and camera quality is quite apparent. For the price though a good handset.

I got the T-Mobile version used last month when they were $220 on Amazon and I must say this phone is great for the price. I am a heavy user and the battery life is excellent, I honestly cannot believe the battery is so small. The SD835 is a very efficient processor. The gesture based fingerprint scanner is really nice to use as well

Edit: This is the Z2 play, sorry the T-Mobile deal was for Z2 force

Yeah - no issues using Netflix, Youtube, etc. I really wanted to use the phone as my daily as I like the phone. Bought a turbo battery Moto Mod and the battery life with it is phenomenal.

Three things held be back - mediocre low light shooting, screen resolution which was really noticeable to my eyes at least and my heavy use of Samsung pay which uses MST (proprietary to Samsung)

I've given it to my 2.5 yr old to use as a streaming device. He loves it. Smilie

Yeah the Camera on any mid range and low end phone is going to be garbage. I've noticed that cameras on phones cost 600 or more or better quality. Make no mistake this is still a very good mid range phone.

Snapdragon 835 is on the Moto Z2 Force 2nd edition. The Moto Z2 play has the Snapdragon 625 .

My gripe with Motorola is that they have a history of shi**y cameras. Even on flagships. I've had the Moto X 2013 (original), Moto X 2015 Pure (3rd version) and now the Moto Z2 Play. All have had mediocre cameras. Even the current flagships have meh cameras in low light conditions and Moto is asking a hella premium for them. No excuses to not have a top performing camera.

Even the Hasselbrad Mod is a crappy camera - and it's supposed to be the bees knees.

Chris.

Last month Amazon sold the T-Mobile's Moto Z2 Force for 299.99 not 220 unless you got it used.

People don't buy Motorola phones for the camera. People buy moto phones because it's affordable to Larry, Moe and Curly. I myself have a iPhone 8+. I like playing with smart phones and they're reselling it or eBay and craigslist just for the heck of it.
Yeah - there is a wide range across the Motorola lineup. Moto E ($129) to Moto Z2 Force Droid ($720). Bought my father in law a Moto G4 and he's been happy with it. Great phone, couldn't beat the value for the price. But when we start looking at the Moto Z2 Force Droid there is no excuse for a subpar camera. At least at that price point.

Yes, I did mention it was used. However the seller had them listed in "good" condition, mine arrived in perfect shape, no blemishes. It did not include the OEM charger or box, it shipped with a generic USB type C charger. Still a great deal

Chris.

My wife has the Moto X Pure and we think the camera is pretty decent. I agree on the rest though. Anyone know how the camera on the IPhone SE is? I like a smaller phone, but would like a decent camera without spending $500+. Thanks in advance.
