Not supported by LEDE so no flashing to new features.

Still, $10 router.

Supported by Tomato by Shibby [groov.pl]. I have a few of these around the house.

EDIT: It is supported by LEDE at spot 101. Look at their list [lede-project.org] again...

Was on clearance at my walmart for $20, so this is a better deal than that.

it's an okay deal considering that it has been posted here at same price before. however the router is solid, and for anyone who just needs a very reliable router or an AP this will be a good deal.

as for me, i don't mind holding off until it's FAR.

I am 0 for 3 for receiving rebates from New Egg, so I no longer fall for their garbage.

Yeah I've had some trouble too, what did they say to deny your 3?

Asus gives you the rebate, not newegg. I haven't had a problem claiming any rebates from Asus.

And when this same deal has been posted before, it's been put on the Front Page.

I don't remember any response from them, and I don't have time to chase rebates down.

I do remember doing everything correctly each time to the letter, then not receiving anything.

Companies do rebates because they know that consumers will fall for the perceived lower price. It's not worth the effort to attempt any rebate for less than $20, and only then if it is online where it can be tracked.

I haven't done 100s of rebates but in the last 5 years I've done about 50. And I've never been denied. Knock on wood. I don't want to jinx it.
Once I forgot to send in my rebate.
That's all. Never been denied. And I've read many times if you keep copies they often let you resubmit after a first denial.
I'm not even as dedicated and detail oriented as folks here but still manage them.

Rebates take time to come in. Some even took 6 months. But never denied.

it's front page just because the initial traction form the 8 people who really needed the router and jumped on the deal. afterwards enjoying the quick boost, it goes back to the end of the line, most time it never even sells out.

as i have stated, it's a good stable router at a good price . . . not sd . at $5 or FAR it would be a much better deal.

let's put it this way, if i did not have an immediate need for a router i would abstain from it. if it was FAR or $5, i would buy it regardless of the need (as backup).

a SlickDeal is an item that you do not need, but due to the price you are compelled to open up your wallet.

Same here. Only once out of hundreds and it was all on me b/c I didn't realize it was the same rebate offer from earlier in the month. Luckily, it was only a $5 earbud

Must not be a newegg rebate since ALL newegg rebates can be tracked online now INCLUDING downloading exactly what was(n't) received.

I had 1 missing last month and after emailing my copies, they uploaded and approved it quickly (like within the hour)
