I am really interested in getting this because, AFAIK, it's the only watch/portable type device that can do offline Spotify playlists. This would be perfect for a run when you want to leave your phone at home.

The Samsung Gear S3 has Spotify as well if you are looking for more of a traditional looking watch though it is at a higher price point. I have it and yes it is so nice to go on a run without a phone. I am tempted to sell the S3 and get this as it seems to be smaller/sleeker and I don't need to have a data plan anymore. Spotify offline is a newer feature as when I purchased the S3 you needed to have a data plan via your cellphone provider to be able to use Spotify without your phone as it was streamed.

Sorry for the dense question, but does this watch perform the tasks of an ordinary smartwatch (i.e. text/email notifications)?

Thanks for the tip. I am aware of the S3. My use case is I have a good dedicated run gps watch that I don't want to give up. But it doesn't support music so I want a small device that can handle offline playlists (versus loading up MP3 files manually), and can stream to bluetooth headphones. This is surprisingly difficult to accomplish well.

I already am feeling a little hesitant wearing two bands on my wrists. I also don't care for or trust the GPS on this unit over my dedicated run watch.

Yea I bought a cheaper Garmin GPS running watch because the S3 wasn't doing as good a job I wanted with it's GPS tracking...then I bought a Fitbit Alta HR as I like the application/tracking/compatibility better than Samsung Health...so now I have three watches. I wear the S3 and the Fitbit on each wrist. Mainly keep the S3 on for push notifications from phone and for Spotify while running. I wish Fitbit would make a watch with a good GPS and Spotify offline.
