Shopping for Surface Book 2 15-inch recently. Found Microsoft Store is running decent student & military discount. For the 256GB version, the discount is $250. It brings the price from $2499 to $2249.10.. For the model I'm buying the cashback amount is $180. The final price I'm paying is $2069 plus tax.

Consider it's a deal for 1. Surface Book 2 15-inch is rather newest model and the price is rarely discounted. 2. Microsoft Store's student discount is $100 higher than Best Buy's $150.

**B&H is selling the same model for $2399. Maybe it''s a better option for many. Please do the math for your own situation.

Hope mine doesn't come with harsh coil whine. I really don't have much tolerance for that.

I wanted to get this but then I just got the MacBook Pro. I don't really want to support a company like Microsoft was all about planned obsolescence. I mean really all they had to do was add one or two thunderbolt three port. But they didn't now it's just an amazing obsolete machine. Can't use my egpu. Next year I will get surface pro
I hear you on the Thunderbolt 3 port missing... WTF were they thinking. On a side note, what egpu are you using? I run an alienware graphics amplifier and have been for a few years now.

You mean like the fact that Apple crippled their old devices to make people buy new ones?

I am using the gigabyte aureus gaming box with 1080. It's the smallest out there and comes with nice carrying case so I can take it places with me. People who say thunderbolt 3 doesn't matter haven't tried the life we live. It's awesome.

Yes the only downside of this machine (other than price tag obviously) is missing thunderbolt. But it's okay for me since the GTX1060 is very much mighty enough for my gaming demands. Why not just look for Dell XPS 13 and pair it with an external GPU?

You realize Apple has multiple pending lawsuits for planned obsolescence right now and Microsoft has none right?
