Walmart is running a deal on a 3-Pack of Switchmate's on-wall smart switches. I think these normally go for $39.99 (per their website [switchmatehome.com]), so $49.99 is a steal. Free shipping too!

I don't know if the original price is a good deal or not, but man, these things look janky. Like redneck automation. Seems like if you are capable of connecting it to an app, you are capable enough to install an actual smart switch.

Except, not all houses have a neutral wire thus can't use a standard smart switch

These things suck. Other than the cool sound they make when pressed, these are not worth the $5 the local store clearanced them out for. Not smart at all and rely on Bluetooth.

These are great if you live in an apartment and have a landlord that won't let you change the switches.

They're launching two products "Power" and "Zip" that have Wi-Fi connectivity and can control the other Switchmate products, which could bring these into the smart-ish realm.

They are a little noisy, but they work. They stick to the screws on your existing wall plates using powerful neodymium or similar magnets, which do a great job holding it in place. I bought slim models to use a pair on a double gang switch set, not sure if the standard width would work on that setup.

They work ok, had one for over a year, bought one at $35 when they came out. I don't have neutral wiring and didn't want to buy 4 smart bulbs just for 1 fixture but I finally broke down. Bluetooth range was ok, worked everywhere from my 2bedroom/1000 sq ft apartment. Integrates with Wink and Google Home (but not with Smartthings), they've been promising the Zip module for over a year but nothing yet.

I did find a continued use for it by taking it on vacation with me, found it useful to turn off lights in the hotel room (there's always that one light near the door that a huge pain to get to once you are in bed)

FYI- these are no longer going to be compatible with Wink. Wink sent out an email the other day warning users with them currently in use. After 2/28/18, you won't be able to add them to the system and if Switchmate updates the firmware on your device, it also will not work. So if for whatever reason the switch needs to be repaired to Wink, you won't be able to.

Contacted Switchmate, they're blaming Wink. Contacted Wink, they're blaming Switchmate. I'm thinking it's Switchmate because everything else that uses Bluetooth will keep working with Wink.

Switchmate said it's compatible with Alexa/Google. Looked up the app in Alexa and I believe every review was 1star. So you know that means it doesn't really work with Alexa. Didn't look up the google version.

Shame too, because this was great for my application. I have a 3way switch with both outlets and overhead lighting in the garage. It's pulling a lot more voltage than any smartswitch I've seen handles. This was a quick and easy fix. Just closed the loop on one side, put a smart remote over that outlet, and put a Switchmate on the other light switch. 20minutes later, smart control of the garage lighting.

Hmm, these rockers were on clearance for $5 each last year in Walmart
It looks like they are the old versions as well

(compared to the "new" one that has a motion sensor on it)

I have purchased four of these. I use then in conjunction with my Google home. I used my Google home to turn on a ambient light via voice. I use these on my room lights, easy to turn on and off while on my phone. I purchased one as a gift for not parent's and use the timer function to turn on and off a dedicated outdoor light pole.

Any idea how long that 10% back is supposed to last?

Not sure, can't find an expire date on their website.

I echo this statement. Bought them an year ago, when they were $19 at Frys. These things suck big time. Not worth $50 for 3.

I have the rocker wall switches and tried these.

They come with an adapter to work with rocker switches. The magnets were not strong enough to press my rocker switches and would rarely work, sometimes fall off completely.

Works much better for toggle style switches. I don't care for the loud actuation sound it makes.
