Bought two of these (the 32GB models) on Black Friday for my daughters (5 and 2). So far they love them. They give you an option of age range for the kids so it will only show apps, books, and other stuff for only that age range. You can also use it like a regular Amazon Android tablet with the parent account. It is easy enough that my 2 year old has picked up how to use it and for the most part can find her own game, still needs occasional assistance to get out of one or find the one she wants. They both love the FreeTime Unlimited and the ability to download whatever apps they want to try out.

I bought a 64GB MicroSD card for it and put movies on it for an upcoming trip/plane rides. So far I have only been able to access the videos via the parent account and not the kid accounts. Hopefully they have a way to allow them to show up in the Kid account so I don't have to switch between.

Is $99 for the fire Hd version a good deal? They have that one on the top banner of this deals site page. Should I even bother with the kids hd version?

Edit:

Lowest price from last BF was $89.99. Is the performance worth it for the additional cost?

I think you can only grant access to "Amazon" titles in the Freetime interface. For example, my Vudu movies show in the Video Library within the Kindle interface. I download them locally (it goes to the SD card) and then grant access to the kid profile. I do have other movies that I manually copied to the card, but can't find a way to allow them through Freetime. I primarily play those when the tablets are hanging from the headrest and the kids can't touch them.

My wife figured this out and I still havnt lol. I think you go to the manage profiles while on parental account. In there you can manage the kids profile and add videos to it.

Chat with an amazon rep, its a no questuons asked policy. They ship you a new one, you ship.the old one back. How do I know? Having a small child living on the third floor of an apartment. Took three drops, but he finally killed the first one. These things are tough!

Don't they usually give you a discount when you buy 2 ? I might be wrong but based on that this offer comes.down to the same total for 2.
