Trying to book the Marriott City center Pittsburgh for 5 days in May 16-21 and literally everywhere is the exact same price ($1368 total).

How the heck can I save some cash? That's an insane price to rent a bed for 5 days.

I'm not a traveler, but you used to save a few bucks via Priceline or whatever or there were cashbacks or coupons... Not any more?

Does it have to be that particular hotel? If not, look on hotel booking sites like booking.com to find something close. Lots of hotels in Pittsburgh.

If it has to be, then join their loyalty program. You could get a Marriott branded credit card and you will get some freebie points offer that you can possibly use.

Also, check to see if you qualify for another discount -- such as AAA, AARP, etc.

ANother tip when booking hotels is to delete your cookies and surf on private mode because websites tend to price higher when they realize you are looking for searches of hotels

Are you going to SFWA Nebula Conference? https://nebulas.sfwa.org/nebula-conference/ says they have a block of rooms for only $164/night.

It looks like you overlap that time which may account for the rates being high. Also note the high parking rates on the link to reservations. If you are not part of the conference, I would be hesitant to book the rate but as you are going a day earlier, you may not be required to show conference registration. Taking a big chance, though.

I just searched those dates on hotwire and there is a three star downtown for those dates.. total is $726. Looks like it's probably the holiday inn express and suites
