Both United and American Airlines have round trip airfares travelling to and from San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) for $57, nonstop. These are basic economy fares. Basic Economy fare limits carry-on bags to one small personal item, such as a purse or laptop bag. All other baggage must be checked for a fee. However, there are a couple of Virgin America flights out for the same price. Bolded dates here mean there's availability (at this moment) for this same fare on Virgin America, which means it's a main cabin, regular economy fare! Grab it!

Travel Availability:

Departs SFO: March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28; April 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25; May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16

Departs LAX: March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28; April 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25; May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16

Use dates and book it on Expedia [expedia.com] or United Airlines [united.com] directly.

Wow, faster and cheaper than our high speed rail project's anticipated rates.

These are just matching the current Southwest sale. Southwest is a better option if available since they don charge a change fee.
