I waited until i received mine to post this, its the plus version, its not refurbished or open box, i contacted them about the price but never got a reply.

deal url:

Heres the item on their website

They still have the v2 on sale for 270, but for the 5 bucks diff i think this is better, integrated power supplie takes up less room and easier to move, but may make modifications a bit tougher.

I got this when it was $370... Totally worth it though. If you want a very functional but also very upgradable printer then this is it. Works great out of the box, works even better with a few mods and some upgraded firmware. One big upside is that while the hardware isn't open source the firmware is, and that mean you can run far more up to date firmware and activate functions like mesh bed leveling and bed PID that aren't active by default. Touchscreen LCD is mostly a plus, but not having an encoder wheel does make certain things harder, like adjusting temperature or doing manual mesh leveling (once you activate it)

Can I print a 3D maker from this and then return the original?
Yes you can .. but the new printer would not print another printer then ... rather it would print nothing!

i searched, but couldn't find anything on firmware that allows for mesh bed leveling...

can you share a link if possible? PM me if that information isn't necessary for SD at large, please.

Just PM'd, but as a tl;dr for the rest of the SDers... manual mesh leveling is possible, but requires a firmware tweak in the configuration file of the custom firmware source code. If you know arduino then this is easy. Otherwise its not really something to mess with.

I've had one for over a year. Bought for $400 from Amazon. It's amazing. Built an enclosure to print with ABS and everything. After you level the bed it'll be alright for a while. I actually can't remember the last time I leveled mine and it prints every day

I've had this for almost 2 years now great 3d printer. Use it once a week or more. Amazed how fast I learned 3d drawing and design. You can fix so many things with one of these and a good caliper.

Pulled the trigger this morning, been looking at the Maker Select, getting the Plus for about the same price as the Select was too hard to resist.

I'm looking for a 3d printer. I hear good things..Can i increase the Volume size of this? I saw that it was cotumizeable and upgradable? Can it do Wi-Fi/Remotely/Printing? What other features seperate this from another ones? 7.9x7.9x7.9 "I think" a bit bigger will be ok..

Bought this for $300 direct a couple months ago. Awesome awesome awesome deal. Definitely requires some tinkering and patience to get great prints. Thingiverse will be your best friend for mods.

One thing to keep in mind, set the z-stop one notch higher than stock and tighten bed screws all the way before you home the z axis. You'll thank me later.

When searching for tutorials, also look under Wanhao i3 plus as monoprice has just rebranded it. Great community support.

Also grab a raspberry pi and load up Octoprint for wireless printing and monitoring.

Octoprint for the wireless aspect. Can't make the bed bigger but there is a z axis mod to gain ~30mm in height.
