with which motherboard that will support 8+ GPUs using these?

I think the appeal for the extra slots on the motherboard is that it's easier to set up (not speaking from experience) as time is $ too.

Not to mention fewer pieces of hardware to rely on.

The weird thing is that the prices are already starting to go back up. I'm not an economic master but seems that enough people are still in it to start driving the price back up.

If there was complete loss of confidence wouldn't it just totally crash and be dead?

Troubleshooting this card will be more cumbersome than troubleshooting a card without PCIe extenders.
