Almost bought this (want a 27" 2k IPS with VESA and audio out), but only supports 1080p over HDMI (what year is this???)... will wait for the BenQ GW2765HT to go on sale again

Where did you find that out at? And how do you know that's not because of a cheap cable?

Multiple reviews at Newegg report full resolution over the HDMI port.

They also talk about autodetect not working correctly and having to manually select the inputs.

"The K272HUL monitor supports the following maximum resolution.
DUAL LINK DVI - 2560x1440 @ 60Hz
DisplayPort (DP) - 1920 x 1080p @ 50Hz
HDMI - 1920 x 1080i @ 60Hz"
https://us.answers.acer.com/app/a...esolutions

Also there is lots of discussion on the newegg product q&a about HDMI and DP, no conclusive answer, not going to roll the dice on it

Nothing to do with cheap cables or underpowered GPUs
